"CHRISTMAS IN ROOM 309" is a Broadway style, one-act musical for Middle School and Elementary Students about Forgiveness and Belonging.
When GRANDPA OSCAR LONG ends up in the hospital on Christmas day, his visiting family - including foster children - gather in the hospital waiting room to comfort GRANDMA KATHERINE LONG and speed GRANDPA's recovery. However, in these close quarters, secrets surface and siblings are forced to confront unresolved anger. Meanwhile, the LONG GRANDCHILDREN skip obliviously across the surface of this rocky undertow with songs like ”Hairy Uncle Jerry,” “Grandma’s Christmas Wrappin’” and “When You Belong to the Longs.” Flexibility is key, with gender neutral characters and unlimited opportunity to feature ensemble cast, so every student may have their moment (not that anyone pays attention to this:) Who knows? This little romp might remind you of a family you know.
"CHRISTMAS IN ROOM 309" HAS
AN OPTIONAL GOSPEL PRESENTATION. SEE BELOW.

Children, gather ‘round. Listen and learn. We’re about to witness the miracle of God’s love. Think about it...If God loves us enough to give up His Son for us after all we’ve done, how can we stop loving each other? And if forgiving us was so important to God that He sacrificed his only Son, then shouldn't forgiving be very important to us? What, a holy and perfect God can forgive us, but we can't forgive each other? Does that seem right? Of course not! Because he forgives us, we must forgive each other. Because He loves us, we can - we MUST - love each other.
